2021 Lone Robin

The Lone Robin challenge is a bit like a mystery quilt. Each month EBHQ member Julia McLeod, the creator of Lone Robin, issued instructions, i.e. guidelines, for what element to add to your quilt.

Taking on this challenge month by month, not knowing what was coming next, made adding each element more stimulating. Another option was to wait until all the elements were revealed and then make the quilt all at once. It’s was up to each Robin to decide how and when to add each monthly element.

Each round could be as large or as small as desired. You could do a traditional medallion design and add the newest element to all four sides, or attach the newest element to whatever side(s) you wanted. The challenge was to respond to each new prompt not knowing what element would come next. Lone Robin became a stimulating adventure in improvisation.

There was just one rule:

Each month’s work had to be sewn onto, i.e. touch, the last month's work. Sashing between the elements was permissible if you were making individual blocks.
