Our drop-off venues for DDCQP donations are Carolyn Weil's home and New Pieces, where you can also drop off finished Community Quilts or tops and small fabric donations. At Carolyn's you may drop off finished kits or quilts, pick up kits to sew or pinned quilts for machine quilting, or get batting to finish a Community Quilt that you have made. She will also accept large fabric donations. 

EBHQ members are generous by nature and have a long history of supporting our community at large.  The Deanna Davis Community Quilt Project (DDCQP) donates over 1,000 quilts a year to local children and youth organizations, shelters and hospitals.  

DDQCP volunteers have stitched and distributed all sizes of quilts to those in need of support and comfort: tiny quilts for preemies, small quilts for babies and children, medium sizes for tweens, and larger quilts for teens aging out of foster care and for families in need of disaster relief.  It's an accomplishment we all should be very proud of. Thank you ALL for making it possible. WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!  

What you can pick up at Carolyn's to finish at home

•    a donated "UFO" (unfinished object)

•    a pre-cut kit to sew a quilt-top

•    a pinned quilt sandwich to machine quilt

•    a machine-quilted quilt that needs binding attached by hand or machine

•    a back and batting to make a sandwich with the top you've already made

More ways to help from home

•    create a quilt or a quilt top of your own design (see Quilt Size Guidelines) 

•    cut and assemble a kit, using one of our Quilt Kit Patterns, bring it to Open Quilting for someone else to sew up

•    sew & press binding strips (180” child size, 240” tween size), more length is always welcome

•    search through your stash and donate unwanted fabric (see fabric donations below)—Kiss It Goodbye and put it to good use

Fabric and Quilt Donations

We gladly accept:

•    fabric — 1/4 yard pieces or larger — no scraps please

•    100% cotton fabric — washed if possible

•     cute children’s fabrics, happy colors and fun prints

•     large pieces of batting — at least one yard — no scraps please

•     sewing notions — thread, quilting pins, scissors, masking tape

•     finished quilt tops, (we’ll provide the back, batting and binding)

•     unused, completed quilts

Small bundles of fabric donations are accepted at New Pieces,766 Gilman St., Berkeley, open from 10 am to 2 pm Monday through Saturday.
