This is a two day workshop, Saturday and Sunday. 9-12 each day
The world around us, the objects in it, the people we love who live there, all can be incredibly inspiring for a quilt maker. If you've never tried to take that inspiration and translate it into a quilt it can be daunting to know where to start. Likewise, you my not be looking for a literal translation of the idea, just a way to capture the colors, emotions, or shapes of the inspiration. Using improvisational piecing you can do just that.
This class will cover the basics of translating your own concepts into a block or quilt. There are a multiple techniques and approaches covered in the class, so the right one for you and your idea is going to be there.
Each student will do their own work, with their own idea. And even if we all came with the same inspiration, we would leave with vastly different quilts. The key is to trust your inspiration and your skills. Improv is a forgiving and freeing language to work in.
