Elements of Design: Balance
This month we skip to exploring how combining a variety of elements can be used to achieve a BALANCED composition. Whether working on a design wall or the floor, with your own or a purchased pattern, choice of placement, hue, and value influence the end result. Decisions about PROPORTION, CONTRAST, EMPHASIS, VARIETY, REPETITION, RHYTHM, MOVEMENT, TEXTURE, and POSITIVE and NEGATIVE SPACE effect the aesthetics of your piece and how it is perceived.
Chunk of the Month - A Mystery Quilt for 2022
Julia McLeod, who took us on both Lone Robin quilt journeys, is taking us on another. Each month Julia will demonstrate how to piece a block. Some months we make four blocks, some months eight. Each month we set aside the blocks and wait until we have 44 components after six months to make a 48”square quilt. No two quilts will look the same! The first block starts this month.
