Virtual Lecture - Hand Yoga and Hand Quilting

The first half of this lecture is a guided hand yoga practice and a discussion of hand care principles.  The second half digs into Heidi’s current quilts, handwork, exhibitions, and creative process.

Heidi will discuss her approach to hand quilting aesthetically and practically.  Basting, exposed or hidden knots, hand positioning, thimbles, hand yoga/hand care, improvisation, and economy of movement are all introduced practically with photos and video.  Design aesthetics and 'planning' to improvise are discussed conceptually, and with photos of in progress and completed quilts.
